John Taylor is an extraordinary spiritual
teacher, and has recently
agreed to make regular
teaching visits to cities in Colorado.
This website
is sponsored and authored by one of his students
to provide additional support for his teaching,
and hopefully to complement his official
website:

About "Coming Home"
John makes a spiritual and personal
connection with his students and followers, and works
on an individual basis with the end objective
that they will "come home". When John speaks of "coming
home", he is refering to an experience which goes by
many names: "living in the NOW",
"oneness",
"being present",
"realization", "self realization",
"awakening",
"enlightenment",
encountering or experiencing
"who one really is". All of these terms refer to the
same experience. Upon reading this, it should be
obvious that the teaching which leads to "coming home"
is not information based, and it
is not like a "belief" or "faith". For this reason it
is difficult to explain using information (words)
and it takes a special kind of person like John
to "point the way" (teach).
I have had a taste, of
"coming home" thanks in large measure to John Taylor, and
I can say first hand that there have been times of pure joy,
love, and peace like no other.
It is an absolutely life-changing experience -- for the
better! It has happened to me over a period of time
and I perceive that this is just the tip of the iceberg.
But it is, again, life-changing.
To get a sense of how powerful it is,
read the account of
Eckert Tolle's awakening, and take
a look at our review of "The Power of Now" on our
Recommended Books page.
This section is not complete without mentioning that
"being home" is ancient. In his book,
"Original
Wisdom", Robert Wolff tells of his
work with stone age
aboriginal people, the "Sng'oi", in Malaysia who
had no written language, no clocks, and almost no contact
with the modern world. Based on his
descriptions, and on the account of his own "awakening"
(guided by his Sng'oi friend, Ahmeed)
it appears that the Sng'oi are in fact "home"!
Robert's experience of "oneness" was quite profound:
ordinary distinctions dropped away, and he experienced
a way of knowing beyond thinking.
Check it out, it is a fascinating account.
Reference and Teaching Material
There is a lot of material which can be
helpful. For example you can easily
research or read about the concepts of "spiritual
enlightenment" or "non-duality" or "living in the NOW".
A nice place to start is our
Recommended Books page; you may
find our
News & Information page
informative and helpful; be sure to check out John's
Newsletter.
You can also study some of the famous teachers
and their work. Perhaps the best known is
Sri Ramana Maharshi who
"came home" completely and spontaneously.
John Taylor is a teacher in the same tradition:
one of John Taylor's teachers, Robert Adams, was a
student of Ramana Maharshi. One should recognize,
of course, that there is no substitute for working
with a teacher who is "already there", so going to
Satsang with John and/or other enlightened teachers
is highly recommended
John Taylor's Background
John's background is in Christianity and Buddhism.
His teaching is Advaitic, or non-dual. He started
teaching in public about two years ago.
Prior to this he had a huge dose of real
life experience. A small sample: (1) Served in the 82nd
Airborne and 101st Airborne in Vietnam; (2) Completed
studies for ordination as
a Christian minister; and (3) worked for the government of
Canada.
In this person's opinion, though, the most important
factor about John's teaching
is his care for his students and the
transformations that have occured in many of them.
You can read more about John's background on
his website.
The Teaching -- About The Gap
"The Gap is in believing that God, Enlightenment or the
Unconditioned is somewhere other than where I AM."
-- John Taylor
If it is true that
there is nowhere I can go where GOD is not, then the
gap is an illusion.
One of the "Four Principles" John uses to help us come home
is "Close the Gap". You can get a start on understanding this
by reading the printable copy
of the Four Principles. John will be offering an invitation
for each of us to be present to what we know to be true and
to be free during his teaching visits.
John Taylor's Visits To Colorado
John is scheduling six-day visits to Colorado
each month. The visits include three week-night public
Satsangs Wednesday through Friday and day-long intensive
Satsangs on Saturday and Sunday. John also offers
private sessions during the day on the Monday, the last
day of the six-day visit. These visits alternate
the week-night and week-end intensives between
Boulder and Denver. Be
sure to visit our events
page for the detailed schedule.
